Hudson Valley Dealer Nabbed Selling Fentanyl, Other Drugs, Police Say

An alleged Hudson Valley drug dealer was busted by a drug task force following an investigation, and making "buys."

Dutchess County resident Haitham A. Dasan, age 48, of Poughkeepsie was picked up by the District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force on Thursday, Nov. 1 in an of Poughkeepse known as the "South Side."

According to Det. Sgt. Adam Harris with the task force, agents have been investigating the sale of narcotics and other drugs in the area, specifically the sale of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine (crystal meth). 

Drug Task Force Agents identified the dealer as Dasan, and began purchasing narcotics from him, while learning at the same time that he carried a handgun, Harris said.

On Thursday, Dasan was located in the area of Hooker Ave.

Shortly after he was located agents took him into custody where he found to be in possession of a large quantity of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine along with a loaded .32 caliber handgun, Harris said.

He was transported to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office where he was charged with the following:

  • Criminal Possession of controlled substance with the intent to sell (three counts)
  • Criminal possession of a weapon

Dasan was arraigned and remanded to Dutchess Count Jail without bail. 

The Drug Task Force was assisted by the City of Poughkeepsie Neighborhood Recovery Unit with the investigation.
